Choi Woo-Skik Movie Posters
For this project, I chose to do an illustrated poster series of three notable horror and thriller films: Parasite, Okja, and Train to Busan which are all starring South Korean actor Choi Woo-Shik. The objective is to use a combination of iconic imagery and symbols combined with color and typography to create an impactful movie poster fitting for the genre.

Design Decisions
Intentionally Restricted
Each poster has the same limited color palette: four shades of blue and one shade of red. The limited color palette helps maintain consistency among the three posters. To keep it interesting, I chose to make one color the main color for each poster. Okja utilizes a lot of cyan, Parasite has more dark blue, and Train to Busan uses primarily red.
Fast-Paced Typography (Revising the subtle details)
Both typefaces are angular, modern, and sleek san serif type which felt perfect to pair with the themes of each movie. The sharp angles and disconnected lines convey the language barrier in Okja, the separation of social classes in Parasite, and the disjointed family in Train to Busan.
Don't Cross the Lines… or Do
Water, train tracks, table clothes, and hands are symbols for each film used to break the frames of each poster. The social commentary in each film regarding animal rights, activism, work culture, and social class, are intended to leave an impression on the viewers after the movie ends.
