Kore

Package Design
and Branding

Kore

Kore (pronounced like ‘core’) is a brand that combines the concept of the Greek myth of Persephone and the pomegranate with skincare serum capsules. The goal was to create packaging resembling a pomegranate and focus on the user’s experience with opening up the packaging. The words emulating the brand are transformative, symbolic, and serene.

The Greek goddess of springtime is most known by her name Persephone, but she has a second name: Kore. The name Kore reminds me of an expression to refer to someone’s innermost self or our “core being”.

A goddess may be revered for their beauty, however, they are also strong, and powerful. Combining the idea of what a goddess stands for with the imagery of a pomegranate led to the creation of the brand Kore.

Since the serum capsule product is at a higher price point, the packaging justifies a more detailed and multi-faceted experience for the buyer. The box features an outer shell, a twisting origami box, and an outer slip.

The top of a pomegranate, or its ‘crown,’ is the most distinguishing part of the silhouette. It was incorporated into the template in the outer slip. The outer box features a dark red pattern that holds the origami box. The origami box features a different pattern resembling pomegranate seeds. It twists open like a flower blooming to reveal the serum capsules inside.
